Buffalo Bloviator Dumbfounds His Honor The Mayor.

The Buffalo Bloviator attended the Sunday Brunch hosted by Buffalo Old Home Week at the Delaware Park Casino.

The Bloviator had the wonderful opportunity to compare notes on a range of issues during a personal interview with Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown.

Should Fulton Street be held out as a Seneca Casino negotiating instrument? We agreed, yes. It is after all, the closest thing to a vote that the city has had in the casino issue.

Should real estate agreements with the Seneca Nation be in writing? Yes, we both agreed that we learned in Business Law 101 that verbal real estate agreements are not legally recognized.

The Bloviator asked if perhaps the RICO Statute (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act of 1970) could be utilized to inspire a strategy to attack street gangs and those who associate with them. The Mayor agreed, yes.

The Mayor then added, “Mr. Bloviator, you can expect to see results from our Zero Tolerance programs.” The Bloviator retorted, “I’m sorry Mr. Mayor, that is where we part company. That is a terrible policy. We have already been way too tolerant of zeros and it hasn’t gotten us anywhere.”

The Wife recoiled in horror as our Mayor stood dumbfounded.

What is Brewing At Buffalo Central Terminal?

The Bloviator thinks something may be brewing at Central Terminal.

Can there be a grain of truth to this? …Or is this just a Bloviator “fly-by” forecast?

WNYmedia.net Helps Fix It -When Fix It Falls Flat

Joint effort persistent pestering on the part of The Buffalo Bloviator, the WNYmedia.net community and various nudnik members of traditional media has produced pay-dirt at the Delaware Park tennis courts near Nichols School. Today three workmen from Picket Fence And Exteriors, Inc., are stretching new chain link fabric onto shiny new 10 foot fence posts that have been set around the court’s entire perimeter.

The fence company is subcontracting for American Paving & Excavating, Inc., of Clarence Center. American Paving spokesperson, Pat, who spoke on the phone with the Bloviator and somehow managed to get a word in edgewise, explained that the company was hired by the City of Buffalo to be the general contractor for the project, which will include resealing and then painting new stripes on the tennis court surface.

According to the fence contractors, the fence should be completed today. They expect the surface work to the courts to be completed in another week.

North Buffalo tennis enthusiasts have been impatiently waiting for the tennis court to reopen after it was partially dismantled early last spring. In response to a June 12, 2006 Fix It column in the Buffalo News, a repair date of July 7 was promised. City parks service has hit a net of bureaucracy due to the county taking over maintenance of the city parks. The ball bounced back and forth between the City of Buffalo, Erie County, and the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy, who all share responsibilities at Delaware Park.

Ultimately it was the city who hired American Paving to rebuild the tennis court. Most of the park users asked by the Bloviator simply expressed relief that the tennis courts were finally getting fixed. However, one high maintenance bystander told the Bloviator, “If Delaware Park were located on Elmwood or Hertel, this would not have taken so long”.

Buffalo Bloviator Attends Broadway Fillmore Alive.org Outing.

I would like to thank the co-founders, members, and friends of BroadwayFillmoreAlive.org for the hospitality extended to the Bloviator at Arty’s Grill last evening. Leadership, vision, and dedication inspired the Bloviator as those qualities bubbled forth from each of the individuals bonded by the noblest cause of Broadway Fillmore neighborhood revitalization.

Bystanders stood awestruck as the Bloviator’s best wild-firehose torrent of verbalization was handily absorbed and then summarily returned, by our new friends, in a pummeling drench of dissertations. We were truly in the presence of fine people, in their own right true world-class bloviators.

Furthermore, I would like to thank all of the members of the gathering for the patience they exhibited toward the wife.
